Protestant church Oudemirdum
The protestant church in Oudemirdum had been widened around 1900. The combination of the old barrel vault and a new, flat ceiling meant that the space was no longer properly proportioned. In addition, the original position of the liturgical centre, the pulpit and the pews, was changed from the side to the centre. The choir was returned to its original form by decreasing the church area through the insertion of a small vestry. A contrasting colour on the flat ceiling and a return to the original lay-out make the space brighter and more intimate.
